Summer Inspiration: Lolita (1997)

Lolita is one of those haunting stories that never leaves you. Its 1997 film adaptation casts Dominique Swain as Dolores and Jeremy Irons as Humbert, and man-oh-man is it beautiful. The two embark on a road trip around late 1940s America and begin an affair, Humbert thirty-six and Dolores only around fourteen. The controversial plot of the film is rivaled with its gorgeous cinematography. Dolores ("Lolita") is seen throughout the film in milkmaid braids, cropped tops, high-waisted shorts, red lipstick, Chuck Taylors, playsuits, and round sunnies - all of which I think are awesome for the summertime.
